Answer:

the sum of their ages = 42

let srikanth age is x

and ramya age is y

x + y = 42 ------(1)

according to the question,

x = 2y

then, put the value of x in the equation (1)

2y + y = 42

3y = 42

y = 42/3 = 14

y = 14

ramya age is 14 year old

and srikanth is 28 year old

Answer:

Srikanth is 24 years old.

Step-by-step explanation:

Let Srikanth's age be x

Then Ramya's age is 42-x

Difference in their ages= x-(42-x)

= 2x - 42

When Srikanth was (42-x) yrs old,

Ramya was (42-x) - (2x-42) yrs old

= (84-3x) yrs old

Given that, Srikanth is twice as old as Ramya was in the past,

x= 2(84-3x)

x= 168-6x

7x= 168

x= 24

Therefore, Srikanth is currently 24 years old.

Confirming the answer:

Ramya is 18 years old now.

When Srikanth was 18, Ramya was 12.

Hence, Srikanth's current age is twice that of Ramya's past age.

Hope it was hopeful!
