a) yes we can identify them by using methyl orange.
1. There is no effect when methyl orange is put in test tube containing water.
2. It will turn red when put in the test tube containing acid.
3. It will turn yellow when put in the last test tube containing an alkali.
b) when the OH- ions concentration increases the H + ion concentration decreases and the basicity of the compound increases.
