let the sons present age be x
the fathers present age will be 30+x as given
after 5 years , sons age will ofcourse be x+5
fathers will also become 5 years older so fathers age after 5 yrs will be 30+x+5
=35+x
but it is given that -: 35+x=3(x+5)
35+x=3x+15
20=2x
x=10
hence , fathers present age as given in statement 2 , is 30+x ie-40 years
ANS. 40 YEARS
