Let Stacy has X oranges and Susan has Y oranges......then

According to the question...... first statement....

X = Y+6.........(1)

and according to the second statement.....

X+Y = 74..........(2)

From the equation first on putting the value of X in equation (2)......

(Y+6)+Y = 74

=>2Y+6 = 74

=>2Y = 74–6 = 68

=>Y = 68/2

=>Y = 34

Now, from equation (1).....

X = Y+6

=>X = 34+6

=>X = 40

Thus, the Stacy has 40 and Susan has 34 oranges.
