Staminate flowers cannot perform parthenocarpy. (option 3)

  • A staminate or male flower is a flower lacking pistils.
  • Such a flower doesn't perform parthenocarpy which is an artificial way of developing fruits without fertilising the ovules.
  • The ovules can themselves develop into the fruit without the male gametes.
  • The result obtained is a seedless fruit.
  • Bisexual flowers having both male and female reproductive organs can perform self-pollination, cross-pollination as well as double fertilisation (fusion of one female gametophyte with second male gamate).
