Standard state Gibbs free energy changes for the isomerization reaction is shown below at
400 K.
cis - 2 - pentene trans - 2 - pentcne AG = -3.67 kJ mol-'.
If more trans-2-pentene is added to the reaction vessel, then :
(a) equilibrium remains unaffected
(b) additional trans-2-pentene is formed
(c) more cis-2-pentene is formed
(d) equilibrium is shifted in forward direction

Answer:

I guess its (c) more cis-2-pentene is formed

Explanation:

Because if we add more trans-2-pentene the reaction will shift backwards to form cis - 2 - pentene trans as we are disturbing the equilibrium in the forward direction that is the products side to balance this and restore equilibrium more reactors are formed.

A is incorrect as equilibrium is affected

B and D is almost the same thing which says product is formed which is wrong as explained above so the only correct answer is c
