''Standard Time
The uniform time based on a central meridian
is known as the Standard Time. Standard time
must always be divisible by 71/2". This allows
time to be reckoned by a unit of half-an-hour
and not smaller differences.''

it is given in my textbook
can someone explain it plzzz why the standard time should always be divisible by 7.5???

Answer:

See below

Explanation:

Because 15 degrees of longitude is equivalent to 1 hour in time (that is 360 / 24) it is convenient to adopt time zones at 7.5 degrees (0.5 hour) or 15 degrees (1 hour) multiples.
