Starring from rest Rohan pressed the accelerator of his car to attain a velocity of 12 m / s in 30 s then he applies brakes such that the velocity of the car comes down to 8 m / s in the next 5 s. Calculate the acceleration of the car in both the cases

In the first case
u =0
v = 12m/s
t = 30 s
From first equation of motion
v = u+ at
12 = 0 + 30a
12/ 30 = a
2/5 m/s square = a

initial velocity = 12 m /s
final velocity = 8m/s
t= 5 secs
from first equation of motion
v =u+at
8 = 12 + 5a
8- 12 = 5a
-4 = 5a
-4/5 m/ s square
