stars twinkle and planets not. why. explain in simple words. elaborate it.

Here is your answer:

Stars ... they are much far away and so the light that reaches to us travels through a lot of difference mediums and refractive indices and takes a lot of time as well. This causes the thinking effect in the stars.

While, in case of planets, they are much more closer to Earth and hardly any refraction takes place. So, the light gets directly bounced back and they don't appear to twinkle.
