Solution :-

As the question suggests,

(1) Take a number y.

(2) To subtract 12 from the number.

=> (y - 12)

(3) To multiply obtained number by 3

=> (y - 12) × 3

=> 3y - (12)(3)

[Using distributive law of

multiplication over subtraction]

=> 3y - 36

(4) So, obtained algebraic expression is

3y -36. This is the required answer.
