Starting from a stationary position, anil paddles his bicycle to attain a velocity of 10 m/s in 25s. then he applies brakes such that he again comes to rest after next 50s. calculate the accelaration of the bicycle in both cases. also find the total distance covered by anil

Answer:

i) 0.4m/s^2

ii) 0.2m/s^2

Explanation:

  • in first case, bicycle is accelerating, and acceleration will be positive, and it is given by,
  • a =  \frac{v - u}{t}
  • where, v=final velocity=10

u= initial velocity=0(since, body is in rest initially)

t=time taken=25

  • a =  \frac{10 - 0}{25}  \\= .4
  • ______________________________
  • in the second case, bicycle is retarding, so acceleration will be negative.
  • here, v=final velocity=0

u=initial velocity=10

t= 50s

  • a =  \frac{0 - 10}{50} \\  = 0.2
