Starting from a stationary position, Anil pedals his bicycle to attain a velocity of 10m/s in 25 s . Then he applies brakes such that he again comes to rest after next 50 s. calculate the acceleration of the bicycle in both cases . Also find the total distance covered by anil

In beginning he is at rest

u=0

v=10m/s

t=25s

v=u+at

10=0+a(25)

a=10/25=2/5=0.4m/s

Now his initial velocity is u=10m/s.

final velocity or stopping velocity v=0

t=50sec

v=u+at

0=10+a50

a=-10/50=-0.2m/s.

Here acceleration is negative

it is deceleration because body tends to Stop

Your answer is correct just

Be careful with units

a = 0.2 m/s^2
