Starting from rest, a boy paddles his bicycle to attain a velocity of 6 m/s in 25 s. Then he applies

brakes so that the velocity of the bicycle comes down to 4 m/s in the next 4 s. Calculate the

( acceleration) a= v-u/t

1st case :

u = 0

v= 6m/s

t = 25 secs

a ?

a = v-u /t

a= 6-0 /25

a= 6/25 = 0.24 m/ s

2nd case :

u =6m/s

v= 4m/s

t= 4s

a= v-u/t

a= 4-6/ 4

a= -2/4 = -0.5 m/s

acceleration in case 1 = 0.24m/s

case 2 = -0.5 m/s
