Starting from rest and under constant acceleration an
object covers 400 m.
(1) How far does the object move in half the time?and (2) what percentage of the total time will be required by the object to cover half of its path?

Explanation:

u=0 m/s

s=400m

a is constant

s=ut+1/2at^2

t1=1/2t

ß=ut1+1/2a(t1)^2

ß=ut/2+1/2a(t/2)^2=1/2a*t^2/4

Thus the distance will reduce by 4 times.

ß=s/2

s=1/2at^2

ß=s/2=(1/2at^2)/2

ß=200=1/4at^2

=800=at^2

Thus 50% of time would be required.
