10% energy transfer law in the food chain is put forth by Lindeman. A pyramid of energy depicts the energy flow form one trophic level to another trophic level in the food chain. According to 10 percent law, 90% of the energy captured from the previous trophic level is lost as heat to the environment and only 10 percent is made available to the next trophic level. Energy flow is from environmental sunlight to producers, producers to primary consumers, primary consumers to secondary consumers and so on.

10% energy law is a law used in a food chain where only the total energy of 10% is transferred through the next organism in the next trophic level. When the trophic level increase the energy will be more in the producer and least in the last trophic level


And the example of this is


The sun gives 100 joules if energy to the producer but the producer uses the energy in respiration and other processes but only % of this energy is used in the photosynthesis that makes only 10% energy passes through the next organism. This processes happen till the last organism gets energy in the food chain.
