The speed of an object is defined as the distance it has traveled divided by the amount of time elapsed. The velocity of the object is similar to speed but has one main difference: velocity takes into account the direction of an object.

speed is defined as change in position with respect to time...
velocity is defined as change in position with respect to time in a certain direction

speed is scalar quantity....
velocity is vector quantity.....

speed has only magnitude
it has no direction..
velocity has magnitude as well as direction....

speed is always greater than or equal to velocity...
