Well, the magnetic field intensity for a current carrying solenoid can be made stronger in two ways
1) An iron core can be inserted inside the evacuated space of the solenoidal cylinder so that due to the ferromagnetic magnetization the net magnetic field due to the solenoid increases.
2) The number of turns per unit length of the current carrying wire on the solenoid can be increased.
