  • The Mughals detoriated after the death of Aurangzeb. Keep in mind that the Europeans were trading in India from the time of Akbar( Aurangzeb's great grandfather) but they never dared to conquer lands.

  • Once the Mughals lost power( why they lost power is a huge story in itself) ,the regional powers claimed independence , did not recognise the Mughals and formed their own small kingdoms. Example : Hyderabad, Mysore, Bengal, Awadh.

  • The Marathas , the strongest Empire then ,faced at at the hand of the Durrani emperor and were then divided amongst themselves after that.
