Isopleth map depicts a quantity (population density for example) in contour lines of different values.

"A choropleth map (Greek χώρος + πληθαίν:, ("area/region" + "multiply") is a thematic map in which areas are shaded or patterned in which shows to the measurement of the statistical variable being displayed on the map, such as population density or per-capita income." Even a relief map showing contours and the region between a pair of (adjacent) contours in different colours & shades is a Chloropleth Map
