Answer

Cell Membrane - It is the outermost layer of the animal cell that separates the inner content of the cell from it's external environment. The cell membrane allows or permits the entry and exit of some material through the process of diffusion and therefore is called selectively permeable membrane. It is flexible and is composed of lipids and proteins. Cell membrane is also known as plasma membrane. Hence, cell membrane is one of the most important part of the cell.

Functions

  • It protects the cell from external environment.

  • It allows the passage of material inside and outside of the cell.
