FOR BEING COMPOUND:-

☆SUBSTANCE SHOULD BE PURE
i.e. water but not air

☆SUBSTANCES SHOULD BE COMBINE IN FIXED RATIOS
i.e. water are combined in fix ratio of constituents but air has altered ratio of substance

A mixture is nothing but a mix of many different kinds of matter.
Air is said to be a mixture because many different gasses combine in it. Like oxygen, hydrogen and so on.
A compound is noting but 2 element combined together in a correct proportion. Water is compound made out of hydrogen and oxygen that is 1:8
