It is the point at which an input/output device attaches to or communicates with a system so that it can send data or receive information from the system. External devices like keyboard, monitor, and microphone are attached by a cable to a port on the system unit. The term jack is an alternative for port and is used to identify audio and video ports. The front and back of the system on a desktop personal computer contains many ports.

Connectors - It is an unique end of a plug or an edge of a card that connects into a port. At one end of a cable it attaches to a port of the system, and at the other end of the cable it attaches to a port on the peripheral. It used to connect two different devices together, also known as plugs, interfaces or ports.

All ports are connectors but not all connectors are ports.

For example:- Cables are plugged into Ethernet ports whereas cables and flash drives are plugged into USB ports.
