Total parasites are those which completely depend on the host for food and shelter
Example: liver fluke, tapeworm

Partial parasites are those which depend only for food on their host
Example :mosquito, lice etc

A plant that is subject to different plants for their sustenance is called parasites. Total parasites are plants that are totally reliant on their host for their nourishment like cascutta and dodder.

Though partial parasites are plants that are normally green in shading and can make a tiny bit of nourishment themselves implies they are not totally reliant on their host for the sustenance like mistletoe.
