Discrimination

Many people are discriminated against based on race, color of skin, and religion. This is a big challenge in many individual’s lives. Discrimination starts because a specific group of people want to have more power than others. The group that feels superior will start to make people from different backgrounds feel inferior. In American history African Americans were a group of people that were discriminated because of their skin color, and with time, more groups of race started to get discriminated. Until this day discrimination has not stopped, it continues to happen not just in America, but worldwide.

I believe that I along with many others from different backgrounds can overcome this difficulty of discrimination and prevent it from happening to a larger extent.

Many of the teachers I have had told a class I was in: “Don’t let stereotypes you hear about your race bring you down. You are young strong individuals that are capable of achieving anything in life.” These teachers instilled a belief in me that I am capable of breaking the cycle my people have lived in for several years: A cycle of endless poverty and street violence because of the race we come from which leads to the stereotypes said about me and my classmates.

Racism is an issue in this country and it is just recently that anyone has taken any action to stop it. Some may have thought that racism was gone once slavery was ebolished, but that is not the case.

Some black men and woman will attest to the fact that if you 're in a group of all colored people and walking on a street, a lot of people who aren 't of color will lock their doors. This is not completeley their fault either. The stereotype that all black people steal or that they 're all bad people has been around for a while. People grow up how they 're taught to behave and the only way to end racism is to show this new generation not to look at color. Everyday people are killed by police officers, but more black people are killed annuanly than any other race.
