alkali metal halide are electrostatic in nature as the bond between alkali metal and its halide are electrostatic .they are generally salt like Nacl ,kCl etc .

These salts are formed by the reaction with hydroxide of alkali metal with acid .

eg

HCl + NaoH /KoH (alkali metal hydroxide ) ------> Nacl + H2O

this reaction is called neutralization reaction.

oxidation number of which alkali metal is +1 .
