Railways are mainly used as they are quite economic and accessible to a majority of people. Adding to that, railways make it easier to carry goods in a bulk because they contain much more space than road or air transport.
However, fragile items are hard to send via railway as there are chances of breakage of things. Moreover, railway booking are usually not on time. Hence, it is not suitable for travelling in an emergency.
