STATEMENT :
moment of inertia of a body about an axis is equal to sum of the moment of inertia of the same body about a parallel axis passing through the centre of mass of the body and product of mass of the body and square of the distance between two parallel axis

EXPLANATION:
let

=> I = moment of inertia of a body about an Axis AB
=> Ic= moment of inertia of a body about an Axis CD passing through centre of mass of the body
=> M= mass of the body
=> r= perpendicular distance between the two parallel axis

ACCORDING TO PARALLEL AXIS THEROM
I= Ic + {Mr}^{2}

here is your answer⬇️⬇️

According to parallel axis theorem,

Moment of inertia is the sum of moment of inertia through mass centre and product of mass and square of perpendicular distance between mass centre and rotation axis.

I= I + M(d)2.
cm

The parallel axis is also known as Huygens - steinner theorem.

hope my answer helps you
