Newton's first law states that an object will remain at rest or move at a constant speed in a straight line unless it is acted on by an unbalanced force.Objects with more mass have more inertia

Galileo stated that if the next external force acting on a body is zero, then the body at rest continues to remain at rest and a body in motion continues to move with a uniform velocity. This property of the body is known as inertia. Inertia means 'resistance to change'. A body does not change its state of rest or of uniform motion, unless an external force compels to change that state.
