Charge quantization is the principle that the charge of any object is an integer multiple of the elementary charge. Thus, an object's charge can be exactly 0 e, or exactly 1 e, −1 e, 2 e, etc., but not, say, 12 e, or −3.8 e, etc.

Definition: Charge of a proton

Value in coulombs: 1.6021766208(98)×10−19 ...

Symbol: e or sometimes qe

hello!

according to your question..

Quantization of charges :

Electric charges on a body is always an integral multiple of the smallest discrete value of charge (quanta of charge). A quanta of charge is the magnitude of charge on an electron which has a value 1.6 * 10^-19 C.

charge on an electron is negative and that of proton is positive but both are equal in magnitude i.e 1.6 * 10^-19 C.

So, charge on a body can be written as :

Q = plus minus 1,2,3 ........

* Remember n cannot be fractional.

i hope my answer will satisfy your doubts clearly.

thanks for asking a good question.
