Answer:

Friction can help the cause of motion in certain situations.

Explanation:

If the force is on the right ,the friction acts along the left .If the force is on the left , the friction acts along the right. Friction is caused by the irregularities in the surfaces on the two surfaces, lock into one another. Due this interlocking of two surfaces friction arise.

Factors of friction.

Nature of surfaces

Weight of the body

Surface area of contact.

There are three types of frictions. They are :

a) Static friction.

b) Sliding friction.

c) rolling friction.

a) STATIC FRICTION.

The friction which produced between two surfaces in contact. with each other at the position of rest is called Static friction. It is most powerful than others.

eg:- when you push a heavy box it is very hard to move this is because of static friction.

b) SLIDING FRICTION.

The friction which arises when two object in contact are in motion is called Sliding friction. It is lesser than static friction.

eg:-when an object starts to move then the friction reduces this is because of sliding friction.

c) ROLLING FRICTION.

The friction which arises when an object starts rolling through another objects .It is the least powerfull friction than others .

eg:-most machines are run by using rolling friction by using ball bearing.
