the electric current passing through a metallic conductor is directly proportional to the potential difference applied at the terminals . provided physical conditions of conductor such as length ,area of cross section, temperature and material remain constant .
let I be electric current and V be the potential difference applied across the terminal of conductor
therefore V directly proportional I or vice versa ( you can symbol of proportionality)
V/I = R ( resistance is constant)
therefore V = IR
Resistance of a conductor remains constant . resistance is denoted by ohm.
