cinema halls, theatres, beaches, hospitals, coffee shops, public toilets , etc were different for whites and blacks.this was called segregation.

blacks were not allowed even to worship in the churches where wwhitees did.

they were forbidden from living in white areas. they could work in white areas only if they had a permit.
