With the onset of summer, there is an acute shortage of potable water in several parts of Palampur region as most of the water supply schemes have failed to meet the daily requirement of consumers.Six villages in the Ashapuri area of the Jaisinghpur subdivision have been without water for the past four days. It is reported that power failure in the area has triggered the crisis as functioning of lifting drinking water supply scheme has come to standstill. spokesman of the IPH Department said all efforts were being made to provide drinking water at least once in a day. He said besides, power failure, the water level in many schemes had gone down and water pumps were not functioning to its capacity.
