HELLO THERE!

You must know:

Ammonium salt + Alkali ------> Alkali salt + Water + Ammonia.

In your question, the ammonium salt is ammonium chloride and the alkali taken is sodium hydroxide, so the products formed are sodium chloride, water and ammonia gas is evolved.

Reaction:

NH₄Cl + NaOH -----> NaCl + H₂O + NH₃

Observation:

A pungent smelling gas is evolved (ammonia), which burns in air with a yellowish green flame.

Some tests:

When a rod dipped in HCl is brought near it, we get to see white fumes (due to formation of dense white fumes of NH₄Cl).

A reddish brown gas is evolved when the gas is reacted with oxygen with Platinum as catalyst, at 800°C. (First NO is formed, then NO + O₂ gives NO₂, which is reddish brown).

Thanks!

Answer:

When the mixture of ammonium chloride and sodium hydrochloride is heated than some new components are fromed ,those are ammonia,water,and sodium chloride.

Reaction for the observation is-

NH4Cl+NaOH --->NaCl+ H2O+NH3

Hope it's correct and helpfull
