Main features of Mansabdari system
The king himself appointed the Mansabdars.
A Mansabdar was paid his salary in cash.
A Mansabdar could be asked to perform any civil or military service.

Mansabdar was a person who held a mansab in Akbar’s court.
Three features of this mansabdari system are as follows
1) mansabdari system was a grading system used to fix salary and rank and military responsibilities of a person . Mansabdari were recruited from a diverse religious backgrounds like Rajputs, afghans , turanis, etc.
2) in mansabdari system , there was a numerical value know as zat which fixed rank and salary. Higher the zat , more prestigious was noble’s value in court and higher his salary.
3) Mansabdars received their salary from revenue assignment known as jagirs which were somewhat like iotas.
4) Mansabdars had the responsibility of handling a certain number of cavalrymen know as sawar. He brought his cavalrymen, got them registered , their horses branded and received money to give them as salary.
