♦ Damaging effects of Earthquakes ♦

Tsunamis are caused. They are large destructive ocean waves that can be generated by undersea earthquakes.

Landslides are caused. The shock-waves caused during an earthquake destabilize the loose rocks which lead to landslides. These damage buildings and disturb the transport system.

The courses of rivers change due to earthquakes rendering many areas unsuitable for irrigation and agriculture.

Earthquakes causes the submergence of coastal parts.

Earthquakes causes the collapses of structures.

The primary effects of earthquakes are ground shaking, ground rupture, landslides, tsunamis, and liquefaction. Fires are probably the single most important secondary effect of earthquakes.
