1. A severe winter had meant a bad harvest,the price of bed rose, often often bakers exploited the situation and hoarded supplies.

2. After spending long hours on the queues at the bakery , crowds of angry women stormed into the shops.

3. At the same time , the king ordered troops to move to Paris.

On 14 July the agiated crowd stormed and destroyed the Bastille.
