Bastar is a place located in the in the Southernmost part of Chhattisgarh. The people of Bastar launched a revolt against the British government as the government banned the shifting cultivation, hunting and gathering and introduced the reserved forest acts, which affected the lives of the people of this area. To organize and finance the revolt the people of Bastar adopted the following measures:
1. Villagers began circulating mango branches, a handful of soil, chilies and arrows, to invite the rebels.
2. The finance of the revolt came from every community.
3. Bazaars were robbed, the houses of British officials and traders, police stations and schools were burnt and plundered and the grain redistributed.
