Hi there,

Properties:

High melting and boiling points - Ionic bonds are very strong - a lot of energy is needed to break them. ...

Conductive when liquid - Ions are charged particles, but ionic compounds can only conduct electricity if their ions are free to move..

1. Ionic compounds mostly have very strong intermolecular attraction forces , so a lot of energy is required to break them , hence they have high melting and boiling points.

2. They are present in the form of crystals which are packed very closely together in the form of a crystal lattice . So , they are mostly solids .

3. Because of presence of ions or charged particles which can move freely they can easily conduct electricity .
