Limiting \: friction :
It is the maximum value of static friction that comes into picture when a body just started moving over the surface of another.

Laws \: of \: Limiting \: friction

• The direction of limiting friction is always in such a way that it opposes the direction of motion.

• The limiting friction acts tangentially to the two surfaces which are in contact.

• The limiting friction depends upon the Roughness and smoothness of the surface.

• The limiting friction is directly proportional to the normal reaction between the two surfaces in contact.

• The magnitude of limiting friction for any two given surfaces does not depends on shape or area of surface as long as the normal reaction remains the same.
