Archimedes' principle states that “when a body is immersed fully or partially in a fluid, it experiences an upward force that is equal to the weight of the liquid displaced by it.”

Archimedes' principle two applications are:-

  • On entering a bathtub that is filled with water, a proportional quantity of water is displaced as the weight of the person.
  • A ship floats in the sea because of the buoyant force that acts from the water. So that we can evaluate the safe depth on its footing.
  • Archimedes’ principle is helpful in calculating the volume of an object that has an irregular shape. When the irregularly shaped object is immersed then the volume of the liquid displaced is equal to the volume of the object.
