ANSWER :
➦ Some factors affecting the climate of a place are as follows :-
- [1] Distance from the equator : A factor affecting the climate of a place is the distance from the equator. The places that are located in higher altitudes lie far from the equator. Such places receive less sunlight than the places situated towards the equator. Hence, the places located near the equator are hotter than the places located far from the equator.
- [2] Distance from the sea : Another factor affecting the climate of a place is the distance from the sea. As land cools and heats faster than the sea, inland areas are less cooler and wetter while coastal areas are more wetter and cooler. Coastal areas have a lower temperature range than the areas of inland.
- [3] Shape of the land : Shape of the land can also affect the climate of a place. Mountains and hilly areas are above the sea level and receive more rainfall than the low lying areas. Therefore, such areas are cooler.
- [4] Ocean currents : Climate of a place can be affected by ocean currents as it can increase or reduce temperatures. It is because, ocean currents are able to transfer heat energy from land to sea or vice versa.
- [5] Winds : Winds also affect the climate of a place. Winds distribute and spread particular air masses. If winds have been blown from cold areas, then it will lower the temperatures and if winds have been blown from hot areas, then it will raise the temperatures.
