John Dalton was an English chemist, physicist, and meteorologist. He is best known for proposing the modern atomic theory, and for his research into colour blindness, sometimes referred to as Daltonism in his honour.
In 1803, he proposed some postulates that were-
i) All matter are made up of very tiny particles called Atoms.
ii) Atoms are indivisible particles, which can't be created nor destroyed.
iii) Atoms of given element are identical in mass and chemical properties.
iv) Atoms of different elements have different masses and chemical properties.
v) Atoms combines in the ratio of small whole numbers to form compounds.
vi) The relative numbers and the kind of atoms are constant in a given Compound.
