Fleming's Left Hand Rule states that :

  • When current carrying conductor is placed in an external magnetic field, it experiences a force perpendicular to both the field and direction of current flow.

Fleming's Left Hand Rule is synonymous to Right hand Thumb Rule.

  • If the middle finger represents the direction of current and the index finger represents the direction of magnetic field, then the thumb will represent the direction of force experienced by the conductor.

In vector form :

 \boxed{ \rm{ \vec{f} = i \times ( \vec{L} \times  \vec{B})}}
