The fundamental theorem of arithmetic states that a number can be factorised into a unique set of prime factors. Yes these can be the HCF and the LCM on 2 numbers as HCF divides the LCM.

every composite number can be expressed as a product of prime and this factorisation is unique apart from the order in which the prime factors occur
