Japans Sea is the flagship event for Japan's marine Industry which was organized on 13-15 April 2016 at Tokyo Big Sight exhibition centre with highest number of exhibiting companies and visitors.

Weak state of global shipping markets the mood in exhibition halls was vibrant with positive sentiment. Japanese shipyards and marine equipment makers are sitting on strong order-books and aren't suffering the financial problems of their counterparts in China and Korea.

Japanese shipbuilders and marine equipment makers are at forefront of commercializing smart ship technologies i.e. ships that are highly fuel efficient and eco friendly.

Advanced technologies were displayed in the Japanese Maritime Industry Cluster pavilion in center of the exhibition.

Total of 550 companies from 28 countries exhibited in that exhibition with an increase of 12% from the last exhibition and the highest number till now.

Apart from Japan pavilion there were group pavilions from Germany, Denmark, Holland, Korea and China. Exhibits includes marine engines, electronics and communications systems, safety equipment and environmental protection equipment.

Answer:

To hide ships from tthe he enemy. Thus carrying on a secretive development of the navy. Imagine your travelling along the coastlines so a broken coastline would be protruding towards the sea in some places and away from it in some, in that case you would like to stay far off the coastline in fear of running aground. This helps in sight-free activities along the coastlines.
