The very essence of the nomadic life of the pastoralists helps them survive the oddities like droughts. When confronted with a situation of lesser rainfall or impending droughts, pastoralists move to new areas, where forage is available.
Though in the times of colonial rule, when strict regulations were imposed on them, their areas and movements restricted, the pastoralists found it difficult to move to the areas of their choice and at times suffered heavy damages in terms of death of cattle.
