Complete question:

The figure shows the speed-time graph for a car traveling along a straight road: The graph shows how the speed of the car changes as the car passes through & a small town.

D. State how the graph shows that the deceleration of the car has the same numerical value as its acceleration.
Answer:

We can conclude that the numerical values of acceleration of the car and the deceleration of the car are equal.

Explanation:

DECELERATION: The decrease in velocity with respect to time is known as deceleration. It is simply negative acceleration.

ACCELERATION: The change of velocity with respect to time is known as acceleration.

from the graph, the car is decelerating from A to  B and moves constantly from B to C, and starts accelerating from C to D.

from graph:

from A to B:

slope = (25-12.5)/(18-10)

          = 12.5/8

          = 1.56

from C to D:

slope = (31-12.5)/(54-42)

          = 18.5/12

          = 1.55

As these values are from the graph the results are approximately equal.

hence, we can conclude that the numerical values of acceleration of the car and the deceleration of the car are equal.
