a) Dry apricots when placed in pure water swell due end osmosis (inward movement of water) and later when are transferred sugar solution exosmosis (outward movement of water) occurs and they shrink again.
b) When Rheo leaves are boiled in water first and then a drop of sugar syrup is put on it, osmosis does not occurs, due to the death of the cells of the leaf. This shows that selective permeability is property of living plasma membrane.
