Joules Law of heating:-

According to joules law of heating.

The heat produced in a conductor is directly proportional to the :-

  • Square of the current flowing through conductor.
  • Resistance of the conductor.
  • Time for which the current flows through it.

The equation for joules law of heating is given by :-

</strong><strong>\boxed</strong><strong>{\sf</strong><strong>\</strong><strong>r</strong><strong>e</strong><strong>d</strong><strong>{ </strong><strong>H</strong><strong> </strong><strong>=</strong><strong> </strong><strong> {</strong><strong>I</strong><strong>}^{2} </strong><strong>RT</strong><strong>}}

Characteristics of heating element wire :-

  1. They have very high resistivity.
  2. Their melting and boiling point is high.
  3. They don't oxidize readily at high temperatures.
